At Fully You Therapy, we believe quality counseling is a need, and a right. We believe people naturally want and are motivated to heal. At Fully You Therapy, we believe we all have a story and that each story matters. However, we also believe healing doesn’t just happen. It takes work, and that is where Fully You Therapy is different. At Fully You Therapy, we believe learning and action are essential. Therefore, at Fully You Therapy, tools like homework and coping skills are emphasized from day one.
At Fully You Therapy, we're all about you, the client. We believe you are an individual created with genetics and attachments (nurture and nature). That as a child, you grew up with your own experiences, needs, and traumas, and that you, the client, learned through your experiences, both good and bad, how to love and be loved. This is the why. The why, you the client, do what you do, and have done what you have. You learned through modeling, bonds, needs, attachments, as well as reinforcement how to be.
This is why at Fully You Therapy while we use a variety of therapies and theories we always seem to go back to Carl Roger’s attachment theory and his individual therapy foundation, In addition to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, and collaborate them with dialectical behavioral therapy as our theoretical foundation. These theories and therapies together bring attachment, relationship, needs, Individuality, thought, emotions, behavior and learning together.
At Fully You Therapy when we look at an individual, we look at what has led them here, and seek to provide solutions to everyday issues (the what and how). This individual focused holistic solution based technique is not only used to help the client solve the problems of now, but is used to build rapport with them in order to begin to work on the why. Here at Fully You Therapy, we believe there is always a why, and while we believe solving the what and how of the problem is important, we believe doing so alone does very little long term.
At Fully You Therapy our goal is deeper, helping the client understand why they do what they do, and how their emotions impact their behaviors from their thoughts. As well as understand how those thoughts got there in the first place. We are here not only to actively listen and to understand their unique story, but help them to learn how to change, and to assist them to change the narrative for generations to come.
At Fully You Therapy, our techniques are individually based and trauma-informed to help the full person. We believe that the client is the expert and that our job is to build a collaboration with them that helps them feel heard, understood, and guided to change. At Fully You Therapy, rapport, trust, honesty, friendship, and psychoeducation are our gold standards.
